HISTORY

Originally settled in 1809 by the Merion family, William Merion purchased 1800 acres of land, married and settled into a home approximately in the vicinity of Moeller in S. High Streets. In the 1830s, a port of entry called Merion Landing was constructed opening new markets for Ohio farmers. Other members of the Merion family also made it big in this small community with shops, industries and agricultural businesses. The original 1800 acres are the approximate boundaries of this present-day community and is one of the only few remaining communities in the Columbus area still dedicated to its original settlers.

This community borders the river on the West, Highway 104 on the south, E. Whittier St. to the north and Parsons Avenue on the east. The railroad tracks run directly through this community in the Lou Berliner Park is right across the river.
